Each summer the 4th-century-BC Theatre of Epidaurus — famed for acoustics so fine a whisper carries to the back row — fills for the Athens Epidaurus Festival on Friday and Saturday nights. In 2026 opera returns to the ancient stage, with the Greek National Opera reviving Cherubini's Medea, the very production Maria Callas sang here in 1961. Book ahead; the best nights sell out.
Intimate music and dance nights in old Epidavros (late June to early August) — a short drive, lovely at dusk.
Just off the bay, the remains of a submerged ancient town lie under clear, shallow water — mask, snorkel, and swim above the ruins.
